Tactical Archiving #1
Live Archival Performance for the Non-Cochlear Sound Exhibition at Diapason Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, 2010
An audio ‘mixtape’ of works from the Non-Cochlear Sound exhibition was captured and uploaded to YouTube, along with incidental video documenting the exact physical context in which the content was uploaded.
Each video was uploaded onto a single YouTube user channel, which represented and catalogued the project as a whole. All footage was taken and timestamped immediately prior to the uploading of each individual work (or section of the work). Only video gathered specifically from this project was uploaded onto the channel; any other artist-sanctioned or professional documentation was not included. All works are labeled and credited exactly as they were in the show, along with some additional information detailing the date and time of capture. Each of the artist's original content is now subject to YouTube’s Terms of Service, which essentially grants the service and each of its users a non-exclusive license to reproduce, re-distribute or modify the content. The video above is a live archiving of the archive as it was displayed in the exhibition.
